Experience
Joost Lieshout (1965) is information systems specialist and founder of Co-Capacity BV. After his CGIAR period he has gained over ten years of experience in the collaborative development of information systems for development for various communities, from the grassroots to the advanced research level. Key in this has always been the reusability of the software and data while applying participatory development approaches. Because of his experience he is also closely involved in international coherence initiatives regarding information for agricultural information in its broadest sense. He is an expert in meta-data standards and favors the use of ontologies and open access and open archive principles. He has developed a strong interest in using web2.0 tools for the development of community based web portals. Joost is also an experienced trainer.

Joost holds a Masters degree in Horticulture from Wageningen Agricultural University

He has worked with UN organizations, government agencies, national and international network organizations, NGO’s, research institutes and the private sector on assignments in Bangladesh, Botswana, Canada, Germany, Ghana, Honduras, India, Italy, Mexico, Nepal, Philippines, Nepal, Pakistan, South Africa, The Netherlands and the USA.

Joost enjoys “refurbishing” activities while preserving authenticity. Areas of activity in this are classic Peugeot automobiles and construction work. Furthermore he enjoys reading comics.
